Maru is an award-winning, eco-minded hanging light fixture designed by lighting designer David Trubridge. The name Maru is found in both New Zealand Māori and Japanese languages, with reference to the cycle of life. Pieces of CNC-cut bamboo plywood create a flowing structure that also casts magical patterns. The effect of shadow play on surrounding walls and ceiling is Maru’s hidden quality. The pendant light shade is lit from within with a row of LED pin-point lights.

Maru is suitable as both a commercial and residential ceiling light. The fixture is ideal for hotel lobby design, hospitality lighting, or restaurant lighting- this oversized pendant light makes a statement in any space.

David Trubridge is known for sustainable materials and nature-inspired lighting design. An element of biophilic design is present, as the shape of the Maru references microscopic diatoms found in our oceans. These diatoms produce more oxygen than our planet’s rain forests- enough for our every second breath!
